Guidance
Whenever you have an opening to ask questions in an interview, go for it.
You should always prepare a good list of insightful questions to ask about the company.
Even if the questions asked of you have been difficult, the ball is now in your court to demonstrate how smart you are by asking great questions.
Ask questions that are intelligent but that won't put your interviewer on the spot.
Something like: "How has the merger with so-and-so gone?" would at least show that you've been doing your homework.
You can also ask questions specific to the interviewer such as "How did you come to work for the company?"
Be sure to ask a good number of questions about both the company and the position because it communicates a strong level of interest and passion for the work.
Ask questions as long as you feel is necessary, but be sensitive to your interviewer's body language and don't over do it.
