A "C" credit rating falls within the "speculative" grade of Moody's long-term corporate obligation ratings.A "C" rating is given to the lowest rated class of bonds. Such bonds are typically in default and have little prospect for recovery of principal or interest.
The next highest rating above "C" would be "Ca."
